The contrastive approach to the bilingual lexicography

Abstract

One of the most remarkable tendencies of modern lexicography is the appeal to the dictionary user. As repeatedly mentioned in linguistic research, the main aim of the dictionary should not only be the establishment of a relation of semantic equivalence between source (SL) and target language (TL). Instead, a lexicographer has to endeavour to reach communicative equivalence.
